Inside the Internship: Writing Their First Funding Project at LALIG

Somebody here needs exactly that.
Let's Talk Tech is run almost entirely by volunteers, and most of our facilitators are graduates of our own cohorts.
01 · Where we need you
Some of these need you in Bamenda. Many you can do from wherever you are. Choose one on the form, or simply tell us you will go where you are needed most.
Lead one of our tracks through an intensive, with an experienced co-facilitator beside you.
Sit with trainees during practical sessions and unblock them. Where most facilitators start.
Check in on interns during their placement and help them read the feedback they are given.
Take calls from graduates building a portfolio, pricing freelance work or preparing for interviews.
Write and schedule for our channels, and turn a cohort into something people outside Bamenda can see.
Campaigns, paid ads and the work of reaching the next cohort of applicants. Remote is fine.
Cover training days, graduations and placements, or cut the footage we already have.
Flyers, certificates, decks and the whole visual identity of a cohort.
Keep the website and our internal systems standing, and fix things when they break.
Make our forms, pages and application flows easier for people to get through.
Clean the numbers we collect and tell us what they actually say. Remote works.
Build the surveys, track the outcomes and tell us honestly what is and is not working.
Help us draft, sharpen and proofread funding applications. One of our highest-leverage roles.
Venues, kit, registration, attendance and the hundred small things that make a cohort run.
Budgets, records and the discipline of reporting a grant properly when it is spent.
Health, agriculture, teaching, law, social work. If it is useful to young people, it is useful here.

03 · Who we are looking for
Many of our trainees are meeting a laptop properly for the first time. If you are one step ahead of the person you are helping, and willing to stay in the room while they catch up, you are already qualified for this.
Thirteen of the twenty trainers in our last cohort came through our own programme. If that is you, this page was written for you.
Developers, designers, analysts and IT people: a few hours of your week goes further here than you would expect.
Health, agriculture, teaching, law, accounting, social work. Our trainings need a health person on site. Our projects need people who understand farming, schools and how communities actually work. You do not have to be in tech to give something here, and there is a volunteer position for everyone.
04 · Being honest with you
volunteer roles carry no salary and no stipend. What we can tell you is that the effort is genuinely appreciated, that you take part in everything we run, and that you do not leave empty-handed.
Volunteers never pay us anything, at any point.
01
Signed, and naming exactly what you did, who you worked with and over what period.
02
The same working materials our cohorts are given, and they stay with you afterwards.
03
You are in the room for the activities we run, not watching them from outside.
05 · Join us
We read these as they arrive and reply to everyone. Be honest about your time, because that is what we plan around.
